Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

I don’t often fall asleep during a movie, but I was lacking a lot of sleep at the time and, really, the first part of the movie is quite boring. And yet, on second viewing, and once I got past the fact that Harry Potter movies are definitely too naive and nice and lacking cynicism, goddamnit it’s the twenty-first century now and if you’re gonna start wearing Gap clothes you might as well get a little more real too and I really don’t understand how adults can be fans but maybe it’s just me getting really too cynical and if you’d told me ten years ago I’d become who I am now I’d never had believed you, and even though the twist ending was the only thing I remembered from the first showing, it’s the first time I find a Potter story so engaging.

So… kids evading their Cinderella families through magic, that doesn’t touch me (which is a bit odd, considering); the whole magic school neither, okay; and the revenge over dead parents even less (which isn’t that odd); but Sirius Black does.

Tu es peut-être dans le même cas que moi pour ça : ça me parlait il y a 10 ans, ou ça me parle quand c'est assez bien écrit pour faire passer le manque d'originalité du thème. Mais là ça fait cliché, redite, remâché et sans imagination. Je dirais que la moitié des histoires de fantasy pour enfants et ados sont basés sur la structure du gamin normal ou "bullied" qui se découvre un talent caché ou une autre vie dans un monde parallèle. L'histoire sans fin, Alice au pays des merveilles, Peter Pan...

Pour les livres, le III (celui-ci) est celui partir duquel j'ai commencé à accrocher, précisément parce qu'il était un peu moins niais. Mais l'essentiel de ce qui rendra la suite plus mature (les conflits entre les différents courants politiques des sorciers, les pro-humains et ceux qui se croient supérieurs, etc) est assez peu évoqué dans les films. Pas assez spectaculaire...
