“Public Enemies and the high-def look”

I thought people were being unreasonable when they criticized Public Enemies for “looking digital,” but I started watching it today having completely forgotten about it, and was suddenly unsettled, not by the way it looked, but the way it moved in certain scenes.

It’s not just about the way digital sensors capture the light; it looks as though the cameras were actually not running at 24 frames per second. But nobody in their right mind would shoot a serious big production in 30fps, would they?

We don't need newsletters, and we don't need Twitter; RSS still exists.
