Excession (Iain M. Banks) —
I don’t know what it’s like to read*, but it’s definitely not pleasant to listen to — the reading of communication metadata is excruciating. Still, for as much as I managed to pay attention, doesn’t it feel like one could cut out half of the book and lose nothing? But I really do like most of the story involving Sleeper Service.
And I keep forgetting how damn horny the author is.
* Actually, maybe I do. Some passages were familiar in such a way that I suspect I did read the book years ago, and it had been such a struggle already that I forgot almost everything about it.
