I can survive an Internet outage. There are lots of things I can do: touch up pictures I haven’t edited yet, or redesign my site, or whatever. But an electricity outage I can’t. It’s inhuman. No computer, no blog, nothing—not even TV or radio. Dead.
I’ll never understand how my father manages to systematically buy (and ultimately hand me) malfunctioning alarm clocks. Is there really a market for those things? Stores dedicated to electronic appliances that don’t last over six months? I just spent fifteen minutes looking for the exact spot you must press on the Clock
button in order to be allowed to set in on time. Yet it shouldn’t be so complicated to build a device that works correctly.
Want to know when I post new content to my blog? It's a simple as registering for free to an RSS aggregator (Feedly, NewsBlur, Inoreader, …) and adding www.garoo.net to your feeds (or www.garoo.net if you want to subscribe to all my topics). We don't need newsletters, and we don't need Twitter; RSS still exists.
